7Qs… a peek inside the world of Zoetica Ebb:
I am sure this is a loaded question but who is Zoetica Ebb?
I’ve heard of this Zoetica, though the details are hazy. She’s either a magazine editor or a space squid of mind-shattering proportions, it’s hard to be sure of such things these days. Seriously though, I’m a Russian in Hollywood living through every mode of expression I can get my hands on. I just got off a plane, so please forgive my near-delirium.
You seem to attack art from all sides – model, photographer, painter, writer… Is there any desired path you’ve yet to explore?
First and foremost I’d love to have a bit more time to devote to painting. I’ve been saying this for the past year and am finally getting close to making it a reality. I’d like to get back into video one day. It’s something I dabbled in during my brief time at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and loved.
I have to ask, how did you land an invite to Elton John’s Oscar Party and was he really digging on your glasses?!
I was invited by a mutual friend, actually. Elton was an excellent host (he’d even hand-picked the stemware) and a riot - I loved sitting at his table and listening to his Oscar commentary. I was also a little lost in Sharon Stone’s hair - she sat at our table and was the pinnacle of grace in sheer chiffon and big soft curls. I wore was a backless, beaded, floor-length Narciso Rodriguez gown. The food was delicious, the wine was plentiful and the attendees were pure eye candy - I had a lot of fun that night!
What is your role at Coilhouse – CosmoNomad?
Besides my extensive secret duties as Cosmonomad, I’m one of the three co-founders, my esteemed partners being Nadya Lev and Meredith Yayanos.
Tell us about your recent adventures in Paris?
This was my 5th visit and I decided to skip museums and cathedrals in favor of getting a feel for the city itself. Instead of a hotel room, I rented a 1-bedroom apartment in the 4th district, just a short walk from Notre Dame in the heart of an ultra-lively neighborhood. My block was a glittering tangle of bars and cafes, awake into the late hours even on weeknights. I highly recommend short-term apartment rental over hotel stays to anyone traveling abroad, as long as they do their research about neighborhoods and rental agencies! Despite my love of French cuisine, the best meal I had on this trip was take-away sashimi, consumed with a friend on the steps of some glorious old building. I always find myself eating Japanese food, no matter where I go.
You have the most fabulous hair I’ve ever seen, that hue of blue is utter perfection! Who’s your stylist?
Thank you! I’m in the process of growing the crop into a short asymmetrical A-line and it’s driving me mad. I’m fairly hair-obsessed and its state really depends on my time, budget and patience - I usually cut it myself, leaving just the back to stylists. Most recently I visited Chris at Fur Hair Gallery in Silverlake, who did an excellent job. I’ve been doing my own color for years - the current hue is Blue Mayhem by Special Effects.
One of your most admirable traits is the undeniable comfort you exude with your own skin. You do you royally! Has that always been the case or something you’ve grown into?
Trial by fire. I was a shy kid, but fiercely fought with myself to gain strength and independence from the very start. This led to an adventurous (if careless) youth spent traveling and experimenting. I slept in piles of tires in Colorado, battled live alligators on the Bayou and woke up with ears full of sand on California beaches all before the age of 17. I was also raised by a woman who’s always told me to care less about what others think of me - thanks Mom!
